The Back Pain problem

BOOKS Reading List

With Back Pain it can be very difficult to establish an accurate diagnosis. The correct treatment, to obtain effective relief from pain, with a reduction of recurrence risk can therefore be elusive. However, one should not give up looking. The cause of the pain, or the activities that aggravate it, may not be easily found. Removing the cause allows the body to heal itself. Suitable changes in lifestyle, exercise and improved posture are very important and sometimes can help more than would be expected.

Finding the causes

Find the causes of your back pain for the relief and treatment of back pain

Despite the increased knowledge available on the causes of back pain, the number of people suffering from back pain in the UK appears to be increasing, not decreasing, particularly with lower back pain. In 1980, four out of five people suffered with back pain - In 2007, four out of five people suffer with back pain. In 2016, four out of five people suffer with back pain. NO CHANGE THERE THEN!

Our experience, over many years, has shown that a reduction in back pain can be achieved with commitment. But this requires commitment and self help by the sufferer and individual focus from their medical adviser. This may mean looking at our own way of life, perhaps changing the way we work and use our bodies. Often it is our furniture and work postures that create the problem. Without finding (and removing) the cause, then any condition is likely to continue, or return. Treatment can be effective, but only temporarily if the ‘cause’ of the problem is not searched out and preferably removed. This should be part of your treatment. There are some simple products to assist with this. More product information

Anyone really wanting to avoid back pain, must take into account their posture, their diet, and invest in a lifestyle and equipment that are beneficial to their health, rather than those that are ‘in fashion’, or ‘cool’. The Nada Chair, for example, will enable the user to sit in a good posture anywhere. Our health is often harmed by the postures we force our body to work in, or the clothes and footwear we buy, just because ‘That’s in fashion’! This is putting ‘how cool we look’ as more important than enjoying a long, healthy and active life. Our feet in particular, are our interface with the floor and fashion shoes cause many health problems. More Footwear Information.

There can also be a problem when approaching a therapist, if they have an approach to back pain which is to narrow, or ‘blinkered’. Each sufferer is different, which explains why not everything that is good for one back pain will necessarily be good for the next person. Often a supplement such as Serrazyme can complement and enhance a sufferers treatment
If you are not ‘getting better’ after a few treatments, then a different approach should be looked at. Tail Pain (Coccydynia), for example, can be eased with a simple seat insert such as the Relaxo-Bak.

Be VERY WARY of ‘Research’ statistics. If anyone quotes you that research shows 60-70% of patients benefit from this treatment, remember that they are also saying that 30-40% of patients will get no benefit from that treatment, or they may even get worse and suffer more.
Each person is an individual, their back pain can present the same as others, but they may require a different treatment approach to gain any benefit and they should be treated as such.

With back pain at work, the commitment must come from both the employer and the employee, either one on their own will not be effective. Solving an individuals problem can lead to suffering and absenteeism going down, whilst productivity and earnings can go up. But only if the problem is tackled by everyone working together. If we help to find and reduce ‘The Cause’, the body can then begin to heal itself.
